What is H13 tool steel used for?

H13 is commonly specified for hot-work tooling such as die-casting dies, extrusion dies, wheel moulds and other tooling exposed to heat and mechanical loading. The final grade, hardness and heat-treatment route must match the service conditions.

Are H13, SKD61 and 1.2344 exactly the same?

They are closely related designations used under different standards, but a purchase order should name the governing standard and required chemistry. Do not rely on an equivalence label alone when inspection or certification is important.

Which H13 product forms can Sunbond review?

Sunbond can review enquiries for round bar, flat bar, forged blocks, forged discs and hollow forgings. The available route depends on section size, quantity, delivery condition and inspection requirements.

What dimensions are available for H13 round bar?

The current company capability statement covers round-bar enquiries from approximately 20 mm to 800 mm diameter. Exact availability, machining allowance and minimum order quantity are confirmed for each enquiry.

How thick can an H13 forged block be?

The current capability statement covers forged-block enquiries up to approximately 1,000 mm thickness. Width, length, forging reduction, machining allowance and inspection access must be reviewed together.

Can material be supplied sawn or six-side milled?

Saw cutting and six-side milling can be reviewed as order-specific processing. State finished dimensions, tolerances, surface condition and whether the quoted size is as-forged, rough-machined or finished.

What does ESR mean for H13?

Electroslag remelting is a secondary melting route used when the order requires improved cleanliness and consistency. Whether ESR is necessary depends on tooling duty, acceptance criteria, budget and the governing material specification.

Is ultrasonic testing automatically included?

No inspection should be assumed. State the method, standard, scan coverage, acceptance level and report requirement in the enquiry. Sunbond can review ultrasonic testing requirements including SEP 1921 when specified.

What is an EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate?

An EN 10204 3.1 certificate is issued by the manufacturer and reports results from specific inspection. The exact certificate content and any additional reports should be listed in the purchase specification.

Can Sunbond provide a material test certificate?

Material certification can be reviewed for each order. State the governing standard, required certificate type, heat identification and any chemistry, mechanical or inspection results that must appear on the document.

How should hardness be specified?

State the delivery condition and required hardness range together with the testing method and location. Annealed supply, pre-hardened supply and final tool hardness are different requirements and should not be mixed.

What information is needed for a quotation?

Provide grade and standard, product form, dimensions and tolerances, quantity, delivery condition, inspection scope, required documents, destination and requested timing. Attach a drawing when geometry or machining is involved.

Is there a standard minimum order quantity?

Minimum order quantity depends on material route, product form, size and processing. Send the required quantity and any sample requirement so the feasible production route can be reviewed.

Can Sunbond quote small-batch orders?

Small-batch requirements can be reviewed, but feasibility depends on stock, starting material, cutting plan, forging route and testing. The enquiry should distinguish prototype quantity from expected production demand.

How is lead time confirmed?

Lead time is confirmed only after material availability, processing, heat treatment, inspection, documentation and destination are reviewed. Include the required delivery date rather than assuming a standard lead time.

What export packaging can be requested?

State corrosion protection, wrapping, crate or pallet requirements, lifting restrictions, marks and destination rules. Packaging is then confirmed in the quotation and order documents.

Can buyers request heat-number traceability?

Yes, traceability requirements should be stated in the enquiry. Specify where heat identification must appear on the product, certificate, inspection report and packing list.

Does ISO 9001 certify the product?

No. ISO 9001 certifies a quality management system. Product conformity is assessed against the material specification, drawing, inspection plan and acceptance criteria agreed for the order.

How can a buyer verify a tool-steel supplier?

Review the legal company identity, factory and process evidence, material certification, inspection scope, traceability method, order documents and communication consistency. Ask for order-specific evidence rather than relying on promotional claims.

How should an H13 price request be written?

Request a quotation against a defined grade, standard, size, quantity, delivery condition, processing, inspection, documents, packaging and destination. A price per kilogram without these inputs is not directly comparable.
