Cold work tooling normally requires a balance of wear resistance, compressive strength, toughness and dimensional stability after heat treatment. SKDII and DC53 are supplied for customer-specified cold work applications such as cutting, forming and precision tooling.
Before production, the purchaser should confirm the exact grade designation, hardness target, heat-treatment condition, machining allowance and inspection requirements. Large or complex tools may require additional attention to heat-treatment distortion and stress-relief procedures.
Material certificates, heat numbers and inspection records should remain traceable throughout cutting, forging, annealing and final delivery.
